Finally, we will also discuss how to stay safe around mold and who to call if you have a serious infestation. Stay safe and don’t let mold take over your home!

What is House Mold?

First, Mold is a type of fungi that can grow both indoors and outdoors. Mold reproduces by releasing spores into the air. These spores can then settle on surfaces and begin to grow. Mold needs moisture and food to grow, so it is often found in damp areas such as basements, bathrooms, or kitchens. Mold can also be found in areas that have been flooded or have had leaks.

The 4 most common types of House Mold

There are many different types of mold, but some of the most common include:

  • Aspergillus: This type of mold is often found in damp areas such as showers or sinks. It can also be found in soil, on decaying leaves, or in stored grains. Aspergillus can cause respiratory infections in people with weakened immune systems.
  • Cladosporium: This type of mold is often found on damp surfaces such as fabrics or wood. It can also be found in soil and on plant leaves. Cladosporium can cause skin infections and respiratory problems in people with weakened immune systems.
  • Penicillium: This type of mold is often found in damp areas such as bathrooms or kitchens. It can also be found on food that has begun to spoil. Penicillium can cause respiratory infections in people with weakened immune systems.
  • Stachybotrys: This type of mold is often found in homes that have been flooded or have had leaks. Usually, Stachybotrys is found on paper products, insulation, or drywall. Stachybotrys can cause respiratory problems and skin irritation in people with weakened immune systems. Click to read more about Household Molds.

  • White mold: White mold is usually fuzzy or powdery and can be found on food or in damp areas. While white mold isn’t as dangerous as black mold, it can still cause health problems if inhaled.
  • Green mold: Green mold is often slimy and can be found in damp areas like bathrooms or kitchens. Green mold can cause health problems like allergies and respiratory problems.
  • Brown mold: Brown mold is often dark brown or black and can be found in damp areas like basements or crawl spaces. Brown mold can cause health problems like headaches, respiratory problems, and skin irritation.

Green Mold

If you think you have mold in your home, it’s important to contact a professional to have it removed. In the meantime, you can prevent mold from growing by keeping your home clean and dry. You should also use a dehumidifier to help control moisture levels in your home. By taking these precautions, you can keep your family safe from the harmful effects of mold.

What should I do if I find Mold in my home?

If you find mold in your home, it is important to take action immediately. Mold can cause serious health problems, especially in people with weakened immune systems. If you have a small amount of mold, you may be able to clean it yourself using soap and water. However, if you have a large amount of mold or if the mold is spreading quickly, you should call a professional for help.

Stay safe when cleaning Mold

When cleaning mold, it is important to wear gloves and a mask to protect yourself from exposure. You should also open windows and doors to ventilate the area while you are cleaning. Once the area is clean, make sure to dry it completely to prevent the mold from returning.

If the Mold looks bad

If you have a serious infestation of mold, you should call a professional for help. The experts will be able to identify the type of mold and recommend the best course of action. They may also need to remove materials from your home that are contaminated with molds, such as drywall or insulation.

The 4 categories of House Mold

There are four main categories of household mold: allergenic, pathogenic, toxigenic, and opportunistic.

  1. Allergenic molds are the most common type of mold and usually don’t pose a health risk unless you have an allergy to them.
  2. Pathogenic molds can cause infections in people with weakened immune systems.
  3. Toxigenic molds produce toxins that can make people sick if they’re exposed to high levels of them.
  4. Opportunistic molds only cause problems in people with weakened immune systems.

Some Molds can be toxic

Most molds aren’t dangerous, but some types of mold can be toxic. Inhaling or touching mold spores can cause allergic reactions in some people. Some molds produce toxins (mycotoxins) that can make you sick if you’re exposed to high levels of them. People with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to infection from pathogenic molds and illness from toxigenic molds.

If you are exposed to Mold

In the event you’re exposed to mold, wash your hands with soap and water. If you have a mold allergy, you may need to take medication to relieve your symptoms. If you have a serious reaction to mold (such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, or burning eyes), call 911 and go to the emergency room.

What should I do if I have a House Mold infestation?

If you find large amounts of mold in your home, you should contact a professional mold remediation company. They will inspect your home for mold and remove it if necessary. The experts can remediate the problem and make sure it doesn’t come back if your home is infested with mold. How Mold spores form House Molds

Mold is a type of fungi that thrives in damp, humid environments. There are many different types of mold, but not all of them are harmful to humans. Further, some types of mold can cause allergic reactions, while others can produce toxins that can make people sick if they’re exposed to high levels of them. Mold can also cause structural damage to buildings.

Spores can travel anywhere and everywhere

Mold spores are everywhere – in the air, on surfaces, and in soil. When conditions are right (high humidity and warm temperature), mold can begin to grow within 48 hours. All mold needs is a food source (like leaves or wood) and moisture. The first stage of mold growth is called germination. During germination, the spores absorb water and start to grow tiny threads called hyphae. Once the hyphae reach a surface, they begin to produce more mold spores. As the hyphae continue to grow, they form a network called mycelium. The mycelium produces more mold spores, which spread through the air until they find another suitable place to grow.

I had an after hours flood in a rental house from a broken AC drain line. Pinnacle was highly recommended to me by the owner of Sage Construction, so I called - thinking I would get a voice mail, but Guy picked up quickly and told me he could be there within an hour. (The drive alone was 45 minutes). He arrived quickly and immediately began the work needed to save the carpet and pad, and remove the water from the house. He left fans and dehumidifiers to dry the room and prevent mold from growing. When you have an unexpected flood, the last thing you need is a mold problem because it didn’t get dried out correctly. Been there, done that. Guy continued to monitor the property and returned 3 times to check the progress. His price was more than fair and he saved me the expense of replacing two rooms of carpet. Communication was quick and easy. His knowledge of the industry was apparent from the moment I met him. He was professional and has a great personality. Highly recommend this company!
